I really think that Express Entry is simple enough for the average person to navigate, and that you are better off just doing it without an immigration attorney. However, if you have a more complicated case (maybe you have some deportations, or a record of some sort), I can understand wanting to use a lawyer. I have received a few emails from you inquiring about the lawyers we used, and for a recommendation. Unfortunately, we had a pretty bad experience with our firm, so I have no recommendations to give. What I can help you with is a good list of not-so-obvious questions I wished I would have asked before engaging a law firm. Continue reading “So you still want a lawyer, eh?”

Moving to Canada costs money, lots of money. So far we have spent $3,800 USD for the both of us, without counting the $7,000 USD in lawyer fees, and we haven’t even moved there yet. Continue reading “Let’s Talk Money”
Hello! I just wanted to take a moment to wish all of you a merry Christmas! I know that for most of us it has been a tough year, but let’s use Christmas to be thankful and present. Next year will be a new year, filled with its own challenges and adventures, but for now let’s have a merry Christmas!

Continue reading “Telling friends we are moving to Canada”
This is the last post of a 3-part series where I rank cities we considered before deciding to move to Calgary. Today I will be doing two cities, so let’s get straight to it. Continue reading “Vancouver and Toronto (Part 3 of 3)”
Hi guys! Last week I shared with you that we were moving to Calgary. This week my post will be about Ottawa, our second choice. For whatever reason Ottawa is not considered a sexy city. In fact, some people go as far as to call it “dull”; however, I think if you look a bit closer you will come to realize Ottawa is awesome and should be on your list! Continue reading “The runner up – Ottawa (Part 2 of 3)”
After much deliberation we have decided to move to the beautiful city of Calgary, Alberta! Continue reading “And we are moving to… Calgary, Alberta! (Part 1 of 3)”
Lately I am sick of politics, and for the most part, I would like to keep it out of my website. But in order to tell the story of how we came to find a new home, I must break my rule for just this one time. In return, I promise not to bring up Trump or the 2016 election up ever again.
